Research Her is dedicated to addressing the needs of all Black women and decolonizing science
Our Work
Research Her is a science communication organization that is dedicated to promoting well-being and creating bridges between science, community, and society. Our mission is to advance epistemic justice and make science accessible to everyone, with a focus on amplifying the voices and experiences of Black women in STEM and research. We are committed to supporting Black women in their scientific pursuits and promoting greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in science.
Community building
Research Her is focused on building digital platforms that are specifically designed for Black women to network and grow professionally. Since 2020, we have been working in partnership with STEMNoire to host "Wellness Wednesdays", a monthly gathering for Black women in STEM fields to connect, support each other, and focus on their well-being.
Science
In addition to providing digital spaces for networking and professional development, Research Her has collaborated with research teams to actively recruit research participants and assist in the publication of their findings in scientific journals. Our goal is to support the research efforts and representation of Black women and ensure their work is effectively communicated and recognized within the scientific community.
Multimedia production
Research Her is committed to promoting greater access to science and promoting wellness. We support the creation of digital content that bridges the gap between research and communities that are often left out of traditional science communication. This includes our podcast, The Research Her, which highlights relevant research that has the potential to improve the lives of the global majority and amplifies those who are systemically marginalized.
Our commitment
to diversity
At Research Her, we are dedicated to elevating voices and perspectives within the Black community, with a focus on women's health and the work of Black women researchers. While our work primarily focuses on individuals within the gender binary, we recognize the importance of inclusive and diverse representation. We acknowledge that communities outside of the gender binary are often underrepresented or marginalized in mainstream conversations. We are committed to amplifying the voices and perspectives of those individuals and actively seek to include their experiences and insights.
